Kipper Pasta


Smokey flavoured kippers tossed through a tomato based sauce with bacon, capsicum and spinach

Serves: 4


  • 400g tagliatelle or fettuccine pasta
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • ½ onion, sliced
  • 4 rashers short cut bacon, chopped
  • ½ red capsicum, diced
  • 410g can Leggo’s Tomato Puree
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 200g can John West Smoked Kippers – Fillets in Brine, undrained
  • 1 cup baby spinach leaves


Step 1

Cook pasta following packet directions. Drain.

Step 2

Meanwhile, heat oil in a large frypan. Add garlic, onion, bacon, capsicum and cook for 3-4 minutes or until bacon and onion are browned. Add Leggo’s Tomato Puree and wine, simmer uncovered for 3-4 minutes or until slightly reduced.

Step 3

Gently stir in undrained John West Smoked Kippers and spinach until spinach has wilted. Toss pasta through sauce and serve.

Tasty Tip!

Substitute ½ cup of frozen Birds Eye Chopped Onions for the onion in this recipe.
